Madonna University Nigeria has dismissed claims linking the death of a student, William Fubara, to bullying within the institution, describing the allegations as false and misleading. The university has called for calm while authorities continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In an official statement issued by its Office of the Director of Communications and Public Affairs, the university strongly refuted narratives circulating on social media that suggested the student was a victim of harassment or institutional misconduct. Management described such claims as “malicious and damaging,” warning that they risk inciting unwarranted public outrage and eroding trust in the institution.

According to the statement, preliminary findings do not support assertions that bullying or any form of victimization contributed to the student’s death. Clarifying the timeline of events, the institution stated that the deceased did not pass away within university premises. “Mr. Fubara’s unfortunate passing occurred at his home during the Easter break, not within the university as has been falsely claimed,” the statement noted. It further highlighted discrepancies in viral reports, including claims that the student died over a weekend when academic activities had already been suspended for the holiday period.
