Popular Nigerian dancer and socialite Iweh Odinaka, widely known as Poco Lee, is expected to appear in a London court on September 15, 2026, over an alleged assault offence, following his detention on remand in the United Kingdom.
In an exclusive confirmation to A1NEWS International, Benjamin Kuti—popularly called “Oluomo of Derby” and founder of a Nigerians-in-the-UK community network—said Poco Lee is currently held in a UK prison and will face a plea hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court at 10:00 a.m.
Community Leader Confirms Poco Lee’s Remand Status
Kuti, who stated that he attends court proceedings involving Nigerians in the UK, confirmed that reports circulating online about Poco Lee’s detention are accurate.
He said Poco Lee remains on remand in prison and is scheduled for the second week of September, where he is expected to be asked to enter either a guilty or not-guilty plea.
Kuti emphasized that he intends to attend the hearing as part of efforts to support Nigerians facing legal challenges in the UK.
Snaresbrook Crown Court: September 15, 10:00 a.m.
According to Kuti, the case is expected to come up at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, exactly at 10:00 a.m.
He said the hearing would serve as a formal step in the legal process, during which the court will record the defendant’s plea.
Reports Began Circulating Online on August 19
Initial reports about Poco Lee’s alleged detention began circulating online on August 19. However, early accounts—at the time—had not disclosed the identity of the alleged complainant, the circumstances surrounding the accusation, or whether formal charges had already been filed.
Several early reports also noted that UK police or a court had not independently confirmed the arrest in their initial communications.
Details of Alleged Assault Still Unclear
As of the time of filing this report, key details surrounding the allegation remain unverified in public records, including the alleged incident timeline, where it occurred, and the status of the complainant’s information.
A1NEWS International understands that an email sent to the court to obtain trial details had not received a response at the time this report was compiled.
Legal Process: “Everyone Is Innocent Until Proven Guilty”
Kuti reiterated the principle that individuals must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, urging the public to allow the legal process to run its course.
He noted that his attendance at the hearing is intended to ensure that the Nigerian community in the UK offers appropriate support during what he described as a difficult period.
With Poco Lee’s next scheduled appearance fixed for September 15, 2026 at Snaresbrook Crown Court, the case is expected to enter a formal plea stage following his remand detention in the UK. While public reporting has raised questions about the circumstances of the alleged assault, important facts—including complainant details and whether charges have been officially confirmed through independent channels—remain unclear. A1NEWS International will continue to track developments as the hearing date approaches.
