ILORIN, Kwara State — Friday, August 28, 2026: The Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi land, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, has regained his freedom after being abducted by armed bandits, A1NEWS can confirm.
According to a source who spoke with this publication on Thursday, the monarch was released by his abductors.
A traditional ruler in Igbesi community, located in the Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I—also known as the Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi land—was abducted during a night attack by armed men that struck the community at about 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
What Happened Before the Release
The abduction reportedly followed an invasion of Igbesi community in Oke-Onigbin town, Isin Local Government Area. Witnesses and community sources described how the armed bandits stormed the area late at night and took the monarch away during the attack.
Confirming the release, a source told A1NEWS on Thursday that the monarch was freed by the abductors.
“The Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi land was released today,” the source said.
