The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of candidates who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Thursday, April 16.

A total of 632,788 results have been made available, with candidates advised to access their scores via official SMS channels.

In a statement issued on Friday and signed by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the Board directed candidates to check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used during registration.

JAMB clarified that candidates can only view their results at this stage, noting that printing options will be made available later.

The Board also issued a stern warning against attempts to falsify or manipulate result messages obtained from its official platforms.

It stressed that altering result notifications to mislead parents or the public constitutes a criminal offence under Nigerian law.

According to JAMB, enforcement actions have already begun, with some suspects arrested in connection with result falsification.

The Board disclosed that two candidates and one parent are currently in custody for allegedly using artificial intelligence and other electronic means to manipulate UTME results.

JAMB further assured candidates that the examination process remains ongoing, adding that results will continue to be released in batches as marking and verification processes are completed.

How to Check UTME Results

Candidates are required to send “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the SIM card linked to their registration.

The Board emphasised that this remains the only approved method for checking results at this stage of the process.

Crackdown on Result Fraud

JAMB warned that any attempt to alter or fabricate UTME scores will attract legal consequences.

It revealed that security agencies are already handling cases involving digital manipulation of results, underscoring its zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice.

The release of UTME results marks a critical stage in Nigeria’s tertiary admission process. JAMB’s warning highlights growing concerns over digital fraud and underscores efforts to protect the credibility of the examination system, which directly impacts university admissions nationwide.
