Manchester City secured a place in the FA Cup final after a late surge produced a 2-1 comeback victory over Southampton on Saturday. Nico González scored the decisive long-range strike as Pep Guardiola’s side overturned a late deficit to keep their treble hopes alive.

Southampton, chasing a return to Wembley for the first time since 2003, had briefly led before City responded with two quick goals in the closing minutes.

Southampton thought they had taken the lead earlier through Leo Scienza, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Omar Marmoush, handed a rare start, missed a key opportunity before being replaced by Haaland in the second half as Guardiola introduced fresh attacking options.

Southampton’s Resistance Breaks Late

Southampton struck first in the second half when Kuryu Matsuki set up Azaz, who curled a superb effort into the top corner.

Despite their resilience, the visitors could not withstand City’s late pressure.

Doku’s deflected equaliser shifted momentum before González sealed victory with a powerful strike that left the goalkeeper with no chance.

City nearly added a third in stoppage time, but Southampton cleared off the line to prevent further damage.
