Tinubu Dismisses Opposition Pressure, Vows Not to Back Down on Nigeria’s Challenges

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he will not be intimidated by opposition forces, insisting he remains focused on tackling Nigeria’s challenges.

The President described critics as “noise-makers” while reaffirming his commitment to governance, democracy, and national development.

Tinubu made the remarks on Thursday at the State House, Abuja, during a meeting with leaders and coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors drawn from the 36 states.

The delegation was led by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who serves as Director-General of the group.

Addressing the gathering, the President dismissed attempts by opposition figures to pressure or distract him from governance.

“They want to scare me off? It is a lie. I have been through this path before,” Tinubu said.

He assured supporters that he would not abandon his responsibilities, stressing that his political experience has prepared him for the current demands of leadership.

“I won’t run away from the affairs of the nation,” he added.

Tinubu recalled the challenges of the 2023 presidential primaries and general election, noting that the experience strengthened his resolve to lead.

He emphasised the need to uphold democratic principles, including respect for the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary.

“We must embrace the judiciary whether it favours us or not. We cannot submit to disobedience of lawful court orders,” he said.

The President also called for national unity, urging Nigerians to work towards a shared vision of progress and prosperity.

Criticism of Opposition Figures

Tinubu criticised opposition elements, accusing them of undermining democratic processes and national development.

He specifically referenced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning the outcomes of past privatisation efforts under his leadership as Chairman of the National Council on Privatisation.

The President cited the steel sector and other assets, arguing that some privatised entities have failed to deliver expected results.

APC Mobilisation Ahead of 2027

Tinubu urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain united and focused on the party’s long-term goals.

He said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have been mobilised to support the administration’s agenda and strengthen grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The President reiterated his commitment to delivering on campaign promises, particularly in areas of economic growth, poverty reduction, and democratic consolidation.
