Plateau Security Operatives Arrest Suspected Kidnappers, Recover ₦8 Million Ransom in Qua’an Pan

Joint security operatives in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State have arrested two suspected kidnappers and recovered ₦8 million allegedly paid as ransom. The operation also led to the rescue of a kidnapped woman from a forest hideout in a coordinated crackdown on criminal activity.

The development was confirmed on Saturday by Danaan Cletus, Media Aide to the Chairman of Qua’an Pan LGA, Hon. Dr. Christopher Audu Manship.

According to the statement, the suspects identified as Waltu Watter and Sale Mamma were linked to a violent kidnapping operation in which one Alhaji Saidu Mamma was allegedly killed and his daughter abducted.

Security operatives reportedly tracked and arrested the suspects following intelligence-led operations, recovering the ₦8 million ransom paid by the victim’s family.

Council Declares Zero Tolerance for Crime

Speaking during the parade of the suspects, the LGA Chairman, Dr. Manship, declared that the local government would not tolerate criminal activity within its jurisdiction.

“We will not allow criminals to operate in Qua’an Pan or use this LGA as a hideout after committing crimes in neighbouring areas,” he said.

He commended the security agencies for what he described as a professional and coordinated operation, adding that the recovered ₦8 million would be returned to the family of the deceased victim.

Separate Rescue Operation

In a related development, security operatives also rescued Mrs. Gambo Bello, who was abducted in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and taken to the Pandam Game Reserve in Qua’an Pan.

Authorities said intelligence reports on suspicious movement in the area prompted a sweep of the forest, leading to her rescue and reunification with her family.

The Council Chairman praised Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his continued support in strengthening security operations across Plateau communities.

Security agencies say investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to dismantle wider kidnapping networks operating in the region.

The operation highlights ongoing security collaboration between local authorities and joint task forces in tackling kidnapping and armed crime in central Nigeria. It also underscores the increasing use of intelligence-led raids in recovering victims and ransom funds.
