President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Nigerian soldiers during a террорист attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State. He described the fallen troops as “unforgettable heroes” who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation.


The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, targeted troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI.

The Defence Headquarters confirmed the incident, stating that insurgents attempted to breach the camp’s defensive perimeter but were repelled by troops after a fierce gun battle.

According to the military, the soldiers responded with “exceptional courage, professionalism, and superior firepower,” forcing the террористs to retreat. However, it acknowledged that a number of personnel were killed during the encounter, although their identities were not disclosed.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the bravery of the troops, noting that their actions prevented the attackers from overrunning nearby communities.

He extended condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, as well as to the Armed Forces and the government and people of Borno State.

‘Their Sacrifice Will Not Be in Vain’
The President assured that the sacrifices of the погибшие soldiers would not be forgotten, stressing that the Federal Government remains committed to defeating terrorism and violent extremism across the country.

“Because of the courage and dedication of our troops on the frontline, our resolve to defeat terrorism is stronger than ever,” Tinubu said.

He noted that recent intensified land and air offensives by the military have weakened insurgent groups, describing the атак as a desperate countermeasure by террорист elements.

Call for National Support
Tinubu urged the military high command and frontline troops not to be discouraged by the losses, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their duty to protect the nation.

He also called on Nigerians and the media to support the Armed Forces, cautioning against any narratives that undermine military efforts in combating insurgency and banditry.

“The government will continue to equip and support our troops while ensuring their welfare. These soldiers are our heroes—unforgettable and irreplaceable,” he added.

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Borno State Government to achieve lasting peace and security in the region.
