The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has deployed 1,803 personnel and operational assets across Abuja to ensure robust security during the 2026 Easter celebrations.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued Friday by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, as part of proactive measures to safeguard residents and worshippers throughout the festive period.

Strategic Deployment Across Key Locations

According to the command, security personnel have been strategically positioned at churches, recreational centres, and other high-traffic public locations across the Federal Capital Territory.

The deployment is designed to strengthen existing security frameworks through:

  • Enhanced visibility policing
  • Intelligence-led operations
  • Coordinated vehicular and foot patrols

Authorities say continuous monitoring will also be maintained to enable swift detection and response to any potential security threats.

EOD Units Conduct Sweeps

As part of the heightened security architecture, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units have been deployed to carry out routine sweeps at major public and recreational venues.

Police Urge Peaceful Conduct

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, extended Easter greetings to Christian faithful across the FCT, calling for peace, unity, and mutual respect.

He urged residents to remain law-abiding and encouraged religious leaders to continue promoting messages of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Commitment to Public Safety

The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property before, during, and after the Easter celebrations.

Residents were also encouraged to cooperate with security agencies by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities to the authorities.

With the large-scale deployment and enhanced surveillance measures in place, security officials say they are confident of ensuring a safe and hitch-free Easter in the nation’s capital.
