Wike commends contractors’ performance, affirms PDP loyalty amid political controversies.

FCT Minister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike on April 1, 2026, conducted inspections of major road projects across the Federal Capital Territory, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to quality delivery and timely completion.
The projects, slated for commissioning by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in May, are part of the celebrations marking the President’s third anniversary in office.
Minister Wike inspected the N16 dual carriageway connecting Jahi and Gwarimpa, constructed by Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Limited (CBC); the Airport Road–Kuje junction stretch handled by Arab Contractors; and the first section of the Kuje–Gwagwalada road by Gilmor Engineering Nigeria Limited.
“I am generally impressed with the quality of jobs by CBC, Arab Contractors, and Gilmor. But this will not be a one-off exercise. We will continue to visit every one or two weeks to ensure they remain on track,” Wike said, emphasizing continuous monitoring to sustain momentum.
The Minister also addressed concerns over a collapsed temporary bridge on the alternative Kuje–Gwagwalada link caused by heavy rainfall. He commended the contractor for quickly establishing an alternative route, calling it “the hallmark of a good contractor.”
Political Controversy: Responding to Bauchi Governor
On allegations from Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed that Wike was planted to destabilize the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Minister dismissed the claims as “embarrassing” and “hypocritical.”
“This accusation of me being planted—all those who accused me are now in the APC. So, who now has told the truth?” Wike questioned. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and President Tinubu, contrasting his position with Governor Bala Mohammed’s shifting political alliances over the years, including moves between Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The inspection highlights the FCT Administration’s focus on infrastructure as a visible measure of governance, while Wike’s response to political allegations underscores ongoing party tensions ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
