Energy firm says expanded crude output and domestic gas utilisation will drive Nigeria’s industrial growth and energy security.

Renaissance Africa Energy Company has announced plans to increase crude oil production to 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) by 2030 as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s energy sector and support economic growth.
The company said the target is aimed not only at boosting production volumes but also at delivering broader economic value, industrial development and sustainable energy solutions for the country.
Renaissance Targets Increased Oil Production
The company’s Vice President for Relations and Sustainable Development, Igo Weli, disclosed the production target during the launch of a four-day community eye-care programme held in B-Dere community, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The programme, tagged “B-Dere Vision First Plus,” was organised by the NNPC/Renaissance/TotalEnergies/AENR Joint Venture in collaboration with Kolmarg Eyesight Foundation.
Represented by the General Manager, Health, Renaissance Africa Energy, Akinwumi Fajola, Weli said the company remained focused on helping Nigeria regain momentum in crude oil production.
According to him, Renaissance is already contributing significantly to national output growth.
“Renaissance is helping Nigeria reclaim production momentum, boosting national crude output by over 200,000 barrels per day and delivering 1.9 billion cubic feet of gas daily to Bonny NLNG,” he said.
Focus on Domestic Gas and Industrialisation
Weli explained that the company’s long-term strategy also prioritises domestic gas utilisation as a catalyst for industrialisation and economic transformation.
He stated that Renaissance’s vision is to become a leading African energy company committed to energy security and sustainable development.
“You would have read reports highlighting how we continue to support oil and gas production in Nigeria. Along with our target of 500,000 barrels daily by 2030, we are also focusing on domestic gas utilisation to power industrialisation,” he added.
Community Health Outreach Launched in Rivers
The energy company used the occasion to launch a community-focused eye-care intervention for residents of B-Dere and neighbouring communities.
Weli highlighted the growing burden of visual impairment globally and in Nigeria, stressing the importance of preventive healthcare and early medical intervention.
According to him, over 2.2 billion people worldwide live with visual impairment, while millions of Nigerians continue to suffer avoidable blindness caused by cataracts and untreated refractive errors.
“About 50 per cent of these visual impairment cases are preventable, which reinforces the need for early intervention and preventive healthcare,” he stated.
Partners Commended for Social Investment
The Renaissance executive commended the NNPC Limited, represented by NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), as well as joint venture partners TotalEnergies and AENR for supporting social investment programmes in host communities.
Representing the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NUIMS, Seyi Omotowa, the Head of Business Services, Nkechi Anaedobe, reaffirmed the joint venture’s commitment to improving living conditions in oil-producing communities.
She disclosed that the eye-care programme was already on track to surpass its initial target of 5,000 beneficiaries.
Rivers Government Supports Healthcare Initiative
Declaring the programme open, the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Health, Vincent Wachukwu, encouraged residents to register under the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RVCHPP) to access affordable healthcare services.
The Executive Director of Kolmarg Eyesight Foundation, Professor Olukorede Adenuga, described the outreach programme as a life-changing intervention that had restored sight and hope to thousands of people across various communities.
As Nigeria intensifies efforts to increase oil production and strengthen energy security, Renaissance Africa Energy says its strategy combines expanded crude output, domestic gas development and community-focused investments aimed at supporting sustainable national growth.
