Operation HADIN KAI intensifies intelligence-led operations as military dismantles suspected kidnapping ring in Yobe and intercepts large consignment of medical, veterinary and logistics items allegedly linked to terrorist supply networks in Borno.

The Nigerian military has recorded another breakthrough in its counter-insurgency operations in the North-East, arresting five suspected kidnappers in Yobe State and five suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in neighbouring Borno State during separate intelligence-driven operations under Operation HADIN KAI.
The coordinated operations, conducted in collaboration with local security partners, underscore the military’s evolving strategy of combining kinetic operations with intelligence gathering to dismantle criminal and terrorist support networks operating across the region.
Military authorities said the operations resulted in the recovery of locally fabricated firearms, ammunition, communication devices, veterinary products, pharmaceutical supplies and other materials believed to be connected to criminal and terrorist logistics.
While investigations remain ongoing, security analysts say disrupting supply chains that sustain insurgent groups has become a critical component of Nigeria’s counter-terrorism strategy.
Intelligence Operation Leads to Arrest of Suspected Kidnappers in Yobe
According to a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Mohammed Goni, troops of the 233 Battalion deployed at the Damaturu Military Cantonment, working alongside members of the Yobe State Hunters Group, carried out a successful intelligence-led operation at Jegalari Village in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State on July 23, 2026.
The operation followed what the military described as credible intelligence regarding the activities of suspected kidnappers operating within the community.
During the raid, troops arrested five suspects believed to be involved in kidnapping activities.
Security operatives also recovered:
- Three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles;
- One locally made pistol;
- Assorted ammunition; and
- Four mobile phones suspected to contain information relevant to ongoing investigations.
Military authorities stated that the recovered items would assist investigators in tracing possible criminal networks linked to the suspects.
Separate Operation Targets Alleged Terrorist Supply Chain in Borno
In another operation, troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI, supported by Hybrid Forces, intercepted five suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation, conducted around 1:30 p.m. on July 20, 2026, focused on disrupting suspected supply routes allegedly used to support terrorist groups operating within Nigeria’s North-East and neighbouring countries.
According to military authorities, the suspects were intercepted while transporting a large quantity of veterinary and pharmaceutical products without the required documentation or transport waybills.
Large Cache of Medical and Veterinary Supplies Recovered
During the search of the vehicles, troops recovered a significant quantity of products, including:
- 491 cartons of Albe Stark 2.5% veterinary dewormer;
- 100 cartons of multivitamin injections for livestock;
- 32 cartons of Diclofenac Sodium Injection;
- 58 cartons of Benzylpenicillin Sodium BP;
- Six cartons of Dexamethasone Injection;
- 51 cartons of Metronidazole Intravenous Infusion;
- 30 units of 80-inch LG plasma televisions;
- 152 empty Bagco sacks; and
- Seven mobile phones.
Military investigators disclosed that the shipment lacked proper transportation documentation, raising suspicion about its intended destination and purpose.
Military Probes Cross-Border Supply Network
Preliminary investigations indicate that the consignment was reportedly destined for a commercial vendor in N’Djamena, Chad.
Investigators further alleged that part of the concealed medical supplies was scheduled to be transferred to another truck close to the Nigeria-Chad border in what authorities suspect was an attempt to evade security screening.
The five suspects have since been handed over to the 24 Task Force Brigade for further investigation.
Military authorities have not yet announced whether terrorism-related charges have been filed against the suspects.
Why Terrorist Logistics Networks Matter
Counter-insurgency experts note that disrupting logistics networks remains one of the most effective ways of weakening insurgent organisations.
Unlike direct combat operations, intelligence-led interceptions seek to deny armed groups access to:
- Medicines;
- Veterinary supplies used for livestock and pack animals;
- Communication equipment;
- Food supplies;
- Fuel; and
- Other essential operational resources.
Security analysts say such operations reduce the operational capacity and mobility of insurgent groups while increasing pressure on their support infrastructure.
Military Calls for Compliance by Transporters and Businesses
Operation HADIN KAI advised pharmaceutical distributors, veterinary suppliers, transport companies, healthcare providers, humanitarian organisations and agrochemical dealers operating across the North-East to ensure that all bulk consignments are accompanied by valid documentation.
According to the military, proper documentation will facilitate legitimate commercial activities while helping security agencies distinguish lawful businesses from criminal supply networks.
Authorities also encouraged businesses transporting sensitive materials to coordinate with relevant military formations where necessary.
Public Intelligence Remains Critical
The military reiterated that public cooperation remains one of the strongest tools in combating insurgency and organised crime.
Operation HADIN KAI appealed to residents across the North-East to continue providing timely and credible intelligence capable of assisting security agencies in identifying criminal hideouts, illegal arms traffickers and suspected terrorist logistics networks.
Officials stressed that sustained collaboration between communities and security agencies would remain essential to restoring lasting peace in the region.
Broader Security Implications
The latest operations highlight the military’s increasing emphasis on intelligence-led missions designed not only to neutralise armed fighters but also to dismantle the financial and logistical infrastructure sustaining terrorism and organised criminality.
Analysts observe that while military offensives have degraded many insurgent formations in recent years, logistics networks continue to provide vital lifelines that enable armed groups to regroup, procure supplies and sustain cross-border operations.
The simultaneous arrests in Yobe and Borno therefore represent a broader effort to target both operational fighters and those allegedly providing material support.
However, the military’s allegations remain subject to ongoing investigation, and the arrested suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The arrests of suspected kidnappers in Yobe and alleged terrorist logistics suppliers in Borno mark another phase in Operation HADIN KAI’s campaign to weaken criminal and insurgent networks across Nigeria’s North-East.
