Fresh Audio Emerges in High-Profile Missing Child Case
Fresh developments have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of three-year-old Ibrahim Owoduni, months after the Lagos toddler went missing from outside his family’s residence in Iba New Site, Iyana Iba, Lagos State.
Audio recordings reportedly obtained by SaharaReporters and published as part of its investigation have surfaced, capturing a man who allegedly claimed to have participated in moving the missing child from Lagos to Anambra State.
The authenticity of the recordings has not been independently verified by A1NEWS International, and the allegations contained in them have not been tested before a court of law.
The recordings, however, have renewed public concern over the fate of the missing child and intensified calls for security agencies to strengthen efforts aimed at locating him and dismantling any criminal network that may be involved.
Caller Allegedly Claims Knowledge of Child’s Whereabouts
According to the published recordings, the caller identified himself as “Ibekwe” and allegedly told the child’s father, Ahmed Owoduni, that the boy was in Anambra State.
During the conversation, the caller allegedly taunted the distressed father and claimed that law enforcement agencies had not succeeded in locating him despite ongoing investigations.
The caller also allegedly challenged the father to continue working with security agencies while making remarks interpreted as attempts to psychologically torment the family.
A1NEWS International has not independently verified the identity of the individual heard in the recordings.
Alleged References to Ongoing Police Investigation
The recordings also reportedly contain references to a woman described by the caller as his sister, who he claimed was in police custody.
According to the conversation, the caller denied that she played a direct role in the alleged trafficking operation while suggesting that another individual was responsible for arranging the movement of the child.
The caller also allegedly proposed an exchange involving the release of his sister in return for the child’s freedom.
Those claims remain allegations and have not been confirmed by investigators or a competent court.
Timeline of Ibrahim’s Disappearance
According to the child’s family, Ibrahim disappeared on January 17, 2026, while playing outside his family’s residence on Orji Street, Iba New Site, Iyana Iba, Lagos State.
His disappearance was immediately reported to the police, while relatives and volunteers launched extensive searches across surrounding communities and social media platforms.
The case attracted widespread public attention because of the child’s age and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
CCTV Footage Becomes Key Investigative Lead
According to previous reports cited by the family and media organisations, investigators later reviewed CCTV footage obtained from a nearby residence.
The footage allegedly showed a resident of the neighbourhood walking away with the child shortly before he disappeared.
Police subsequently arrested several suspects during the course of the investigation.
Authorities have not publicly released the CCTV footage or disclosed all details of the ongoing investigation.
Police Investigation Expands Across State Lines
The investigation later extended beyond Lagos after some suspects allegedly informed investigators that the child had been taken to Anambra State.
According to the child’s father, he personally financed part of the search operation by providing transportation for investigators travelling from Lagos to Anambra in an effort to recover his son.
Despite the operation, the search reportedly ended without locating the missing child.
The father has expressed frustration over the outcome while appealing for renewed investigative efforts.
