FG Delegation Arrives Saudi Arabia For Dantata’s Burial
A high-level Federal Government delegation arrived in Madina, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the burial rites of late elder statesman and industrialist Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who died in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94.
Family sources and government officials confirmed that Saudi authorities granted approval for the respected businessman to be buried in Madina beside his late wife, Rabi’a Dantata, in accordance with his final wishes.
The delegation comprised senior government officials, family members, business associates, and Islamic clerics expected to participate in the Janazah prayers and burial rites held early Monday.
Dantata, widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential businessmen and philanthropists, built a sprawling business empire that spanned construction, commerce, manufacturing, banking, and humanitarian interventions across Northern Nigeria and beyond.
His death has triggered widespread tributes from political leaders, captains of industry, religious figures, and international partners who described him as a symbol of integrity, enterprise, and national development.
Legacy Of A Business Titan
Investigations by A1NEWS International show that Dantata played a significant role in shaping indigenous entrepreneurship in post-independence Nigeria.
As a member of the influential Dantata family of Kano, he expanded the commercial foundations laid by his predecessors and became one of the most respected figures in Nigeria’s private sector.
Beyond business, he was deeply involved in philanthropic activities, sponsoring educational initiatives, healthcare interventions, religious projects, and poverty alleviation programmes across several states.

Tinubu Begins Caribbean Diplomatic Mission
While burial activities unfolded in Saudi Arabia, President Bola Tinubu commenced an official diplomatic tour of the Caribbean and parts of South America, beginning with Saint Lucia.
The President arrived at Hewanorra International Airport in Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia, where he received full military honours from Governor-General Cyril Errol Melchiades Charles and Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre.
According to presidential sources, Tinubu’s visit is aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation between Nigeria and Caribbean nations with historical African ties.
Diplomatic Agenda Targets Strategic Partnerships
A statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga disclosed that Tinubu is expected to hold high-level meetings with Saint Lucian leaders and address a special joint sitting of the country’s Senate and House of Assembly.
The address is scheduled to hold at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom, Sandals Grande, Gros Islet.
Diplomatic analysts believe the visit forms part of Nigeria’s broader foreign policy recalibration aimed at deepening South-South cooperation, trade partnerships, diaspora engagement, and cultural diplomacy.
Sources within the Presidency also hinted that discussions may include investment opportunities, education exchange programmes, tourism cooperation, and energy partnerships.

The simultaneous occurrence of Dantata’s burial and Tinubu’s overseas diplomatic engagement has generated mixed reactions among Nigerians.
While many praised the Federal Government for honouring the late industrialist with an official delegation, others questioned whether the President should have postponed aspects of the foreign trip in view of the national significance of Dantata’s passing.
Political observers, however, argued that the administration appeared keen on projecting continuity in governance and diplomacy despite domestic developments.
