Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has transmitted the first batch of commissioner nominees to the Anambra State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

The development marks a key step in the constitution of the State Executive Council.

The list of nominees was presented during plenary and formally received by the Speaker of the House, Somtochukwu Udeze, who subsequently referred it to the Committee on Screening and Election Matters for legislative review.

The disclosure was contained in a statement issued by Franklin Osankwa, Special Adviser on New Media to the Speaker.

According to the statement, the Assembly is expected to commence screening immediately, paving the way for confirmation of the nominees.

Composition of the Nominees

The list comprises 18 nominees, including 17 men and one woman, nominated for various strategic ministries across the state.

Key portfolios include Agriculture, Finance, Health, Justice, Education, Power, Works and Infrastructure, and Youth Development, among others.

Legislative Screening Process

The Committee on Screening and Election Matters is expected to scrutinise the credentials, experience, and suitability of the nominees before presenting its report to the House for final approval.
